Also, yes, you can mess up the stylus by putting it in backwards. I’ve been using the Note5 for 3 days now and I have yet to do that. All I’m saying is, just be careful. Feel the clicky bit before putting the stylus in. Right, back to taking screenshots. If you are the kind of person who likes to remember stuff by taking screenshots and highlighting, Note5 has made the process really fast and easy for you. Let’s learn how.
How to Take a Normal Screenshot
To take the classic, old style screenshot, all you have to do is press the Power and the Home button at the same time. You can also swipe the palm of your hand really close to the screen, from right to left edge to capture a screenshot. This is not a new feature but it’s very handy indeed. Solving the common problems in Note5: We’ve written about the 5 annoyances in Galaxy S6 edge+ before and as Note5 and the S6 edge+ are essentially the same phones, the advice also applies here.
How to Annotate Screenshots
Because you carry around a phone that has a built in stylus, you can use it to take a screenshot, annotate and share it with anyone you like, without ever downloading a single app from the Play Store. First, get to the screen you want and pull out the S Pen. From Air Command, select Screen Write. Note5 will now take a screenshot and you’ll be presented with the editing screen. The Pen option will be already selected. Tap it again to change the kind of pen you want. Now just draw whatever you want. When you’re done, you can either tap Save to Gallery, Save to Scrapbook or Share. If you want to share it quickly with someone, go with Share. If you save it in Scrapbook, you’ll be able to go in later and edit the annotation. Save to Gallery will only export it as an image.
How to Take Scrolling Screenshots
This is a new trick that Note5 has learned. We’ve talked about using apps and websites to take full page screenshots before but here, it’s a native feature. The process for taking a “scrolling screenshot” is similar to taking an annotated one. The only difference is that once you’re in the Screen Write view, before you start annotating, tap the Scroll capture button in the bottom-left. You can now tap Capture more to capture another screen or tap the Done button to be done with it. Once you’ve selected the number of screens, you’ll be able to annotate over it. Again, you can share it or save it to the gallery or the scrapbook.
How to Capture Specific Part of the Screen
If you just want to capture a part of the page, pull out the S Pen and select Smart select and then either using the Rectangle or the flexible Lasso tool, select the part. Then you can tap Write if you want to annotate the part of the screenshot or save it to scrapbook or share it.
How’s Your Note5?
I’m really impressed with the camera so far. The fingerprint scanner is also faring better than I expected it to. How’s your experience so far? Share with us in the comments below.
